Dennis Quaid's newborn twins are in stable condition after receiving an injection with almost 1,000 times the recommended dose of Heparin by a nurse at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
The babies - Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace started to "bleed out" and the treatment is with Protamine to reverse the effects of Heparin.
I cannot even imagine how Dennis Quaid and his wife Kimberly Bufferington are even getting through this.
Dr. Michael L. Landberg of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center statement: "I want to extend my deepest apologies to the families who were affected by this situation. This was a preventable error, involving a failure to follow our standard policies and procedures, and there is no excuse for that to occur at Cedars-Sinai. Although it appears at this point that there is no harm to any patient, we take this situation very seriously."
In other words someone is getting fired!!!
Our prayers and happy thoughts go out to Dennis and Kimberly at this time.
