Heaths' Ceremony With Michelle Family and Friends

Heath Ledger was laid to rest today and the ceremony took place in his hometown of Perth, Australia. Michelle Williams joined by family and friends gathered together to remember Heath and pay their respect.

Ledger’s ex-fiancĂ©, and the mother of his daughter, Michelle Williams was among those in attendance at the Fremantle Cemetery ceremony, reserved for close family. She reportedly read William Shakespeare’s Sonnet 18.

After the funeral, guests retreated to the Indiana Tea House on Cottesloe Beach. Mourners were observed smoking and having drinks outside on the patio when Williams arrived, clearly shaken.

According to People magazine reports, “At least 50 people attending the wake ran onto the beach and many began to take off their clothes. While some women took the plunge in their black dresses, other men and women stripped down to just their underwear and jumped into the ocean.”

"Williams, still wearing her cream-colored sundress and black sunglasses, was briefly dragged into the water as everyone cheered. She was then quickly surrounded by a group of mourners, creating a protective circle around the actress,” the People witness adds.

And there was definitely a positive sentiment in the air, as two mourners said: “The sun goes down on our love. But it will never go down on Heathy.”

Meanwhile, another wake attendee told of the beach festivities: “It’s exactly what Heath would have wanted.”
