Tell me your story

Have you ever been in a custody battle? How did you keep your head up and what words of encouragement can you give to those who are facing this right now?

I haven't. See if any of the Ladies on FLOW might have had such an experience.

Hey eastcoast. Missed you.

I went through the worst custody battle ever. Two years, and I am filing for bankruptcy now. It was worth it in the end. E-mail me if you wanna talk. :)

Do you think your sense of humor has gotten you through it?

Has to, or else I would have thrown myself off London Bridge. Or it not, me, the ex off London Bridge. lol

It's a combination of things, you have to have a sense of humor because if you go into it all doom and gloom you despair about every little detail that goes wrong and you lose hope in things. You also have to have a lot of supportive people around you, like family and friends. If it weren't for my fiance and my friends I would have just cried every night. And the final thing you need is bucketloads of patience, because there will be days when it will all just go haywire and you don't know why, and not all things could be planned (which was a bummer for me because I am a control freak).

But yeah, in the end, I got custody of my daughter, I got half the share of my house, I got permission to leave England with my daughter and to live wherever I want, and I got peace of mind knowing that if I can take 2 whole years of arguing and stress then i can take on anything really.

I love it! I tear up (I'm a corndog) reading your story because I know so many people deal with this and for you to open up like that is going to help so many other women or men. I have never been through this but one thing I can say is that humor is such a great tool to get our minds off of something that could overtake us.

I'm happy for you and your daughter and the strength you have deserves much Kudo's. OK I'm done mooshing.

LOL it's OK, I feel all teary eyed too. I look at my daughter and it just makes me so happy I could cry. We go back to America permanently next month and we're all really excited.

I'm one of the lucky ones! I worked really hard on this case (and gave up a very good job) to concentrate my effort on winning this case come hell or high water because I was going to be damned if anyone took my daugter away from me. But I know a lot of people who haven't had the same outcome as me, so I feel really blessed.

You know what's the messed up bit? I'm only a year older than Britney. I can't imagine doing the things that she has done. She needs to grow up.

Hey do you have a MySpace or a Facebook page?
